OLC Youth Ministry & Conrmation Program

Congratulations on your 8th Grade Graduate!

We are already gearing up for our Conrmation Preparation program for fall, 2022. Any teen that is entering at least the 9th grade is invited and welcomed to join us here at Our Lady of Consolation to share in faith, fun, and friendship. The Sacrament of Conrmation is typically celebrated at the end of the teen’s sophomore year. Our Diocese of Paterson sets forth that the preparation for this sacrament is a two-year commitment.

Throughout our program we get to do the following: have monthly meetings with additional invites throughout the month, as well as family events, youth group activities, and special get-togethers. We also attend retreats, complete service hours and projects together, and celebrate Mass with each other.

We are in the process of updating the Youth Ministry/Conrmation pages on the OLC website; in the meantime, the best way to obtain accurate information is by checking emails and reaching out to me for anything at any time. I am thrilled to be here at OLC and extremely excited to be given the opportunity to get to know your teen and your families.

We will kick off our freshmen preparation with our “Spirit Day” retreat tentatively scheduled for Sunday, September 18th. The day will begin with the 11:00 AM Mass and continue at the ministry center until 6:00 PM that evening. Please mark your calendars and reserve this date. :)

I have enclosed our Year 1 information packet. Please complete the registration form included and mail or drop o with payment at the parish or ministry center, to the attention of Jean Caughey. Additionally, if any parent or conrmed sibling would like to be involved by volunteering at our faith sharing sessions or in our youth events, I would love to hear from you and have a conversation. I invite you to pray over the invitation to share your faith in this way. Lastly, a full calendar with faith sharing and celebration dates will be emailed to you and published on the website (hopefully) by the beginning of July. We appreciate your patience.

I would also like to ask that if you know of anyone that has been away from religious education, their faith, or the church for some time, please extend an invitation to join our program or bring their name to my attention and we can invite them together.
