In the days leading up to my son’s wedding on December 21st, it seemed as though nothing else could possibly go wrong. My refrigerator exploded, my furnace began making banging sounds, my clothes dryer stopped drying, my dishwasher stopped cleaning, my ceiling light broke, and my husband was in a car accident which totaled our car.
I was brought to my knees in prayer…I was stripped of controlling any of these things that were happening. And I reluctantly, placed all of my worries into the Lord’s hands. And then the miracles began unfolding!
My husband walked away from the accident without a scratch! We replaced our refrigerator, rented a car, and was able to get an appliance serviceman to come over with just one phone call. The days of torrential rain ended on the afternoon before my son’s 5 p.m. wedding at the church. It gave the Bridal Party enough time to take all of the outdoor photos that they wanted, without umbrellas or even needing a jacket!
My son’s wedding went off without a glitch. It was a beautiful celebration from church to reception! We woke up to a beautiful white Christmas Eve. And instead of worrying about giving presents…Christmas was all about being present. At Christmas Eve mass, I truly felt warmth, affection, and peace. I was in total awe of God working in my life, even when I had moments of doubt. I felt pure gratitude. For, I did my best and then I “let God do the rest.”
The wise men offered the best gifts they could afford to Baby Jesus. Their gifts were expressions of their reverence, gratitude, and love for Jesus with no strings or conditions attached. They experienced a spiritual celebration. Joseph and Mary offered Jesus their protection and affection. They had to completely rearrange their lives to accommodate Jesus into their lives. It was only when I turned my worries over to the Lord that the miracles began to unfold. I have always been fascinated by gazing at stars as they reveal the secrets that lie just beyond my reach, full of wonder…
