Advent consists of four Sundays:
First Sunday- Jesus tells His disciples to be ready for the day of the Lord. Second Sunday- John the Baptist appears in Judea preaching repentance. Third Sunday- Jesus praised John the Baptist as more than a prophet. Fourth Sunday- Joseph takes Mary as his wife and names her child Jesus.
Today’s Gospel of Matthew tells the story of the birth of Jesus from Joseph’s view. It begins with the message of an angel of the Lord given to Joseph in his dream telling him about the child that Mary bears and his role in God’s plan for the child. Joseph does as the angel of the Lord tells him. He takes Mary to be his wife and accepts the child as his own.
As we approach the wonderful celebration of Christmas, may we accept the child Jesus as our own and live our lives accordingly.
A Blessed Christmas to you and yours!
