This weekend is the 6th and last Sunday in Ordinary Time and the introduction to the Lenten Season which begins this Wednesday. How fitting that the Gospel recalls the story of a leper approaching Jesus for forgiveness and healing of his leprosy! Jesus responded to his request and healed him.
As Lent approaches we are reminded that we are sinful, and this is a time to be aware of who we are and where we are at this time in our life. On Ash Wednesday we will once again be marked with ashes on our forehead to remind us of our human failings and our desire for change of heart, renewal and forgiveness. We begin our journey of forty days (alone, with others, and with the Lord). God's grace is with us every step of the way as we confront our meaning, our commitment to our Baptismal vows and issues that separate us from a relationship with God and others.
Please take The Little Black Book as a resource during the next three days to design your Lenten journey. This book offers an opportunity to spend six minutes reflecting on a Scripture passage with the Lord each day.
