A friend of mine summarizes the meaning of the Holy Days we are about to experience…
“These days of reflection are a privileged time for us. We are on sacred ground. We shall take off our shoes and our feet will be washed. We shall drink wine and break bread. We shall pray in the darkness and rejoice in the light. We shall suffer together in the inner recesses of our hearts. We shall recognize our sins and feel redemption. We shall mark the sunset on Good Friday and be together as the sun rises on Easter Sunday morning…”Christmas to Calvary, Anthony Padovano
We are invited to look into our own hearts and see the crosses we bear, the loneliness and hurt we feel, and how we deal with the suffering in our lives. Do we trust that God, through the example of Jesus, will give us the strength and courage to persevere and eventually experience new life?
This is the “holiest” week in our Catholic Tradition…But the world doesn’t stop! Everything goes on—the regular TV programs, the regular work schedule…So, if we want this to be a “holy week” What do “We” do? “We” decide…
May these days be “holy” for us
