Baptism, the Eucharist, and the sacrament of Confirmation together constitute the “sacraments of Christian initiation", whose unity must be safeguarded. It must be explained to the faithful that the reception of the sacrament of Confirmation is necessary for the completion of baptismal grace. For “by the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.

Our Lady of Consolation will accept candidates in the 9th grade (or older) and will prepare them over a two-year period to receive the sacrament in the 10th grade, provided that certain standards have been met. The preparation and actual celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation are parish responsibilities.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process through which adults are fully initiated into the Catholic faith community. During classes, participants study and discuss scripture and Church teaching, as well as share their faith journey. The RCIA Team provides education, hospitality, support, and facilitation at gatherings.
Meetings are held Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 pm,
October through Easter.
