As we celebrate the Third Sunday of Easter, the four weeks of Lent and the celebration of Easter are now memories. Hopefully, we used the Lenten season to renew our Faith and its meaning in our lives.
In today’s Gospel, Mark tells us of a conversation between two of Jesus’ disciples on their trip to a village seven miles from Jerusalem called Emmaus. As they were conversing about all the events that had occurred, Jesus himself drew near, walked with them and joined the conversation; but their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.
How many times in our lives, during times of difficulty and challenge, has Jesus walked with us and we are blinded to recognize His loving presence?
We all need to remember the words of a beautiful song of Faith:
“When you walk through a storm
Hold your head up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark
At the end of a storm
There’s a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the wind
Walk on through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
and you’ll never walk alone.”
God’s hand is always extended to us, all we need to do is extend our hand to Him. We never have to walk alone, we make that choice!
