My Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Does it seem possible that 5 ½ weeks ago, we received ashes to remind us of the beginning of Lent. Today we stand on the threshold of Holy Week – the most important, the most sacred and holiest of all the days of the Liturgical Year. We commemorate the events of the Paschal Mystery: The Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
We listen attentively to the Passion…and reflect… Do we identify ourselves with Peter, or Judas, or Mary Magdalen, or Pilate, or Herod, or Simon of Cyrene or the crowd?
“These days of reflection are a privileged time for us. We are on sacred ground. We shall take off our shoes and our feet will be washed. We shall drink wine and break bread. We shall pray in the darkness and rejoice in the light. We shall suffer together in the inner recesses of our hearts. We shall recognize our sins and feel redemption. We shall mark the sunset on Good Friday and be together as the sun rises on Easter Sunday morning…”
(Christmas to Calvary, Anthony Padovano)
We have the opportunity to come together as a parish family during these days to remember Jesus’ final hours…

The holiest week of the year begins today. But the world doesn’t stop. Everything goes on – the regular TV programs, the regular work schedule. So, if we want this to be a “holy week” What do “WE” do?
We decide…May these days be “holy” for us…
