My Dear Parishioners,
Pentecost is the birthday of the Church: we remember the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles, who were fragile and afraid. They were immediately changed! How? They received gifts of courage, wisdom, understanding... they finally understood all the Lord had been trying to teach them for three years. They were ready to go out into the world to “proclaim the Good News” without fear!
We are the disciples of today… we are reminded once again that the Holy Spirit has given us different gifts, not just for ourselves, but for the good of the people of God. We are called to continue to build the Body of Christ in our families, in our parish, in the community, in the world.
We have chosen the Stewardship Way of Life. Mindful of our individual time, talent and treasure, we reach out through our ministries to build the Kingdom of God. The feast of Pentecost provides a resurgence of the gifts of the Holy Spirit who fills us with unlimited power and energy to fearlessly go forth “to make disciples of all nations”.
A thought to ponder… the apostles were changed…the Spirit changes us too! Do we allow ourselves to be changed or do we resist the gifts of the Spirit?
“Spirit of the living God fall afresh on us…”
