This year in honor of Memorial Day, OLC paid tribute to those who lost their lives protecting our country. Our annual video recognizing parishioners and their family members who have served and since gone home to God was shown. There was also a demonstration of the traditional flag folding ceremony. A brochure explaining the significance of each fold was also distributed. Finally, there was a bagpipe rendition of God Bless America.
Please enjoy the video. The brochure about the Flag Folding Ceremony can also be viewed by clicking here.
Dear Parishioner,
The church recognizes Baptism as a universal sacrament and accepts Baptism done in any other denomination, Protestant or Orthodox, as legitimate and binding. It is the essential sacrament of initiation and it is the beginning of our lifelong journey as true children of God by virtue of Christian Baptism.
Trinity Sunday reminds us that God is omnipresent to His people since the beginning. First as God the Father, then God the Son and, of course, present to us today as the Holy Spirit, who continues to guide our church. It assures us that when Jesus says, “I am with you always, until the end of the age” it is by the power of the Holy Spirit that He continues to guide us both individually and as a community of believers.
On this the Feast of the Holy Trinity, I implore everyone to remember the vows of your own Baptism and live your faith with profound dignity and grace all the days of your life.![]()
On Sunday, May 13, 2018, Our Lady of Consolation brought back the tradition of a May Crowning. The crowning was done by some of the 2nd graders who recently received their 1st Holy Communion. Please enjoy the video.
Dear Parishioner,
As you approach the end of the Easter Season, the message from our Lord, Jesus Christ, is very clear. We must keep His Commandments and remain in His love so that, “My joy may be in you and your joy might be complete”.
Jesus tells us this so that we may have a joyous outlook on life filled with optimism and grace. All the Gospels in the Easter Season are meant to uplift our spirits and send us forth into the world as disciples in Christ. The importance of “sending forth” cannot be underestimated. In this Gospel, as in many others, Christ is commissioning His followers to carry the Gospel to the entire world. We are included in this commissioning and the essential elements are present in today’s Gospel. The command to do this comes directly from Almighty God through the grace and love of Jesus Christ to take up residence in all our hearts.
My dear friends, I never tire of wishing you Happy Easter because the Easter Season never really ends if today’s Gospel is taken seriously. Thus, we are compelled to act upon the words in the Gospel with the grace and strength of Jesus Christ as the great motivating force in our lives.![]()
